The Politics of Fear III

President Obama from this morning's radio address, ""Rarely in history has our country faced economic problems as devastating as this crisis. Now is the time for those of us in Washington to live up to our responsibilities."

I can now no longer let my children watch any television for fear they might hear the President's now-constant message of doom and gloom.

Addendum:

In the post immediately below, in the comments section, I made note of a ridiculous quote by President Obama yesterday denigrating corporate profits. Here is the complete quote as reported by the Los Angeles Times:

"There will be time for them (corporations) to make profits, and there will be time for them to make bonuses, now is not that time."

The quote speaks for itself. The quote tells us all we need to know about a closet socialist and anti-capitalist.

I now have to go re-read my Ayn Rand and find some great passages to post here citing the "Looters".

The Politics of Fear II

President Obama was back at it this week with his doom and gloom prognostications concerning the economy.

The Fearmonger-in-Chief saying, "This isn't just an economic concept, this is a continuing disaster for America's working families." Then adding, "What we can't do is drag our feet or delay much longer."

Later he sent his chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisors, Christina Romer, to the podium to share, "This widespread decline emphasizes that the problems that began in our housing and financial sector have spread to nearly all areas of the economy. Immediate action to support both the financial sector and overall demand is essential."

Remember when President Bush told us the war against terror and the war in Iraq was going to take a long time and many American servicewomen and men would lose their lives? How differently the media and the ever-divisive Democrats played that.

300,000,000 millions Americans

300,000,000 million Americans and President Obama can't find one who paid his taxes to be Treasury Secretary.

300,000,000 million Americans and President Obama can't find one who paid his taxes to be Health and Human Services Secretary.

300,000,000 million Americans and President Obama can't find one to replace President Bush's Defense Secretary.

300,000,000 million Americans and President Obama can't find one who voted against the war in Iraq to be his Vice President or his Secretary of State.

Credit for Nothing

What's the point of an executive order banning lobbyists from serving in the Obama Administration if every single lobbyist who Obama wants to serve is given an exemption? Of course, so the liberal extremists who control the media can tout the President issued an laudable ban.

The Great Obama and Bi-Partisanship

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed President Obama’s $819 billion bill to pay off his special interest groups.

The vote was notable given all the jive about President Obama’s desire for bi-partisan support for the largess.

The vote passed without a single Republican vote. Twelve (12) Democrats also voted against the President.

That is, the vote in opposition to the President, who was supposed to “unite” and who was elected with a "mandate", was bi-partisan.

Let's hope Senate Republicans know the definition of "filibuster".

Our Historic Day

The letter I submitted last week to the Boston Globe asking that the Globe consider holding and publishing today:

Editor,

God bless America on this historic day as a bi-racial man is sworn in as President of the United States. (End of letter.)

Yes, my letter might have prompted what I would call an "honest conversation on race" but instead my newspaper and all the news channels today conduct a massive orgy in dishonesty.

The topper today were the racist words of Rev. Joseph Lowery who closed his benediction of today's inauguration of President Obama with these words, "Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right."

I can only hope my children who watched some of today's events from school didn't see and hear these hateful words.

Please let me know if you hear or see President Obama condemn these words; I'll let you know if I do.

Obama’s Third Bush Term?

My “news”paper, the Boston Globe, published an Associated Press story yesterday heralding that President-elect Obama is “preparing to prohibit the use of water-boarding and harsh interrogation techniques” (Obama ready to block harsh interrogations, Boston Globe, January 17, A2). Buried deeper in the article is the suggestion that the “changes may not be absolute”. According to the AP, a “proposed loophole, which would come in the form of a classified annex to the manual, would satisfy intelligence officials who fear an outright ban of so-called enhanced interrogation techniques would limit the government obtaining threat information that could save American lives.”

So, President-elect Obama is reported to support the same exact policy as President Bush and the liberal extremists who control the media would have us believe President-elect Obama is doing something completely different than President Bush.

I’m reminded of how President Bush and President-elect Obama both say, “We will bring our troops home from Iraq as soon as possible but I will listen to my commanders on the ground,” and the liberal extremists who control the media would have us believe they are saying something completely opposite.

Anyway, if President Obama does decide to prosecute intelligence officers who conducted “strenuous” interrogations” precisely as ranking Democrats Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Jay Rockefeller were briefed tens of times, then I hope prosecutors begin their investigation, in an effort to save taxpayers millions and millions of dollars on a pointless prosecution, by interviewing Pelosi and Rockefeller and ask each if they think they sanctioned “torture”.

It’s a bit early, especially in light of all the railing I've done against President-elect Obama, but based on recent statements out of the Office of the President-elect regarding the wars and the retention of President Bush’s war counsel, interrogation “loop-holes”, wire-tapping terrorists, closing Guantanamo, tax cuts, President Bush’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief in Africa, and President Bush’s faith-based initiatives, to name justs a few high-profile issues, I’m not so sure we are not about to experience a “Third Bush Term”. I write it here but I suspect it might not be too long before the extremists who helped elect Obama start using the phrase.

On one very important thing I am quite certain, though, President Obama will not mirror President Bush’s principled commitment to a culture of life. I do expect there to be a pro-abortion litmus test for any Federal judge or any U.S. Supreme Court Justice that President Obama has the opportunity to appoint.

Another Dishonest Conversation on Race

Regular readers here know that in every post on race, racism, or race-relations that I insert the phrase “honest discussion on race”.

Some of those readers and maybe some new readers might wonder what I mean by that phrase.

Well, here is exactly what I DON’T mean. Below is a ridiculous article published by Reuters and picked-up by the guilty whites at the New York Times and the Boston Globe. This column appeared in my “news”paper, the Boston Globe, on January 9; it’s dishonesty is self-evident but if someone isn’t clear, shoot me a comment:

Racism study pits words vs. action
Few confronted biased remarks
Julie Steenhuysen, Reuters

CHICAGO - Most white people say they would react strongly to racism, but don't do anything when they actually witness prejudice, Canadian and US researchers said yesterday.

The researchers said in their study that white college students who heard someone make racist remarks failed to confront the person who made the remarks, and that this may be part of what perpetuates racism.

"People do not think of themselves as prejudiced, and they predict that they would be very upset by a racist act and would take action," said Kerry Kawakami, a psychology professor at York University in Toronto, whose study appears in the journal Science.

"However, we found that their responses are much more muted than they expect when they are actually faced with an overtly racist comment," Kawakami said.

For the study, the researchers evaluated 120 white students who were exposed to racism while waiting for what they thought was the real experiment to begin. A white student posing as a study participant makes a racist comment about a black participant when he briefly leaves the room. The remarks range from moderate to extreme racial slurs. When the black student returns, the participants are asked to choose partners for a subsequent exercise.

They found 63 percent of study participants chose the person who made the racist comment as a partner.

"We were all surprised at the discrepancy between what people thought they would do and what people did when they were put in that situation," John Dovidio of Yale University, who also worked on the study, said.

"They didn't shun the person who made an obvious racist remark, and in fact they showed a slight tendency at wanting to work with this person," he said.

Those who actually experienced the encounter were less distressed than those who read about or watched a video of the encounter. The latter were much more likely to say they would not work with such a person.

Ironically, Dovidio said, many other studies have found people who are confronted after making racial comments are far less likely to repeat the behavior.

"By not doing anything you are actually contributing to a society that will be racist in the future," he said. (End of ridiculous article that doesn’t let us know what percentage of black, Asian, Native American Indian, Inuit, Pacific Islander, . . . Catholic, Jew, Muslim, Taoist, Buddist, smoker, non-smoker, male, female, heterosexual, homosexual, cat-lover, dog-lover students chose to partner with the person making racist comments.)

The Politics of Fear I

Not even in office yet and we now see how President Obama intends to govern: fear.

For the second time this week, President-elect Obama is scaring Americans with the doomsday language on the economy. In a speech on Thursday he warned of a "bad situation" that "could become dramatically worse". Okay, Obama, you've now successfully scared the hell out of me. And here I thought the Country elected someone who could solve tough problems.

President Bush hosted three living Presidents and President-elect Obama at the White House on Wednesday. Similar to how the news websites reported the news, this was the headline in my liberal "news"paper above a story written by the Associated Press: Obama hails gathering of the presidents. Huh? He was an invited guest. The headline should have been, Bush hosts gathering of the Presidents. Nope. Not in the liberal newspapers or on the news websites. Instead, the passive agent Obama is presented in a favorable light.

Also in the Associated Press account of President Bush having the three former Presidents and President-elect Obama to the White House was this sentence, "Bush, blistered without mercy by Obama during the campaign season, played the role of gracious host." It's a news story and the AP suggests Bush "played" a role. The reader no doubt left with the impression that President Bush was not sincere. The sentence, of course, should have been more along the lines of, "Bush graciously hosted Obama, despite Obama having blistered the President without mercy during the campaign season." Recall, Bush graciously hosted Vice President Gore subsequent to Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his propaganda film on climate change so the President does have a history of being gracious. I'm quite sure if I researched it, I'd find Gore's quote from his visit and his exact words were a positive affirmation of the President's graciousness (okay, just researched it, Gore's exact words after the meeting, November 26, 2007, were "very cordial" and "substantive"). But, the liberal extremists who control the media cannot ever portray the President positively so they don't. Ever.

"In selecting Leon Panetta to be the next Director of the CIA, President-elect Barack Obama has opted for sound judgement and political savvy over intelligence experience." No, the quote is not from the Office of the President-elect. No, the quote is not from Obama's press seccretary or spokesperson. The quote is the lead sentence of the Boston Globe's editorial on the inexperienced Panetta being named CIA Director. So, on the day when intelligence analysts and intelligence insiders are questioning the pick for obvious reasons, the Boston Globe, much like MSNBC analyst Chris Matthews, feels it's job is to make President-elect Obama successful no matter what he says or does: everything he says or does will be the right thing.

I see the Illinois House voted to impeach my new favorite Democrat, Gov. Rod Blagojevich, yesterday. A Senate trial is scheduled to begin January 26. I wonder if White House Chief of Staff Emanuel, White House adviser Valerie Jarrett or Obama national campaign co-chairman Jesse Jackson, Jr. will be allowed to testify if Gov. Blagojevich's defense teams seeks their testimony in the Obama Senate Seat Sale Scandal. If nothing they discussed with the Governor suggested to anyone in Obama's circle of Einstein's that Governor Blagojevich was trying to sell the seat, then how could those conversations possibly rise to the level of conviction in his impeachment trial? Ooh, I can hardly wait for the trial. (I also wonder if President Obama will try to claim "executive privilege" if Jarrett or Emanuel are called to testify.)

President-elect Obama has backed off his calls for the Governor to resign, instead now saying that the matter is before the Illinois legislature. Way to take a position, Mr. President-elect.

Senate Democrats, including Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D, CT), have backed-off their threats to not seat General Roland Burris, who is black. Way to take a position, Senate Democrats.

The Congressional Black Caucus, which has not disbanded since the election of a bi-racial President as I mused on November 15, issued a statement this week signed by all 41 members that General Burris should be seated. Hmmm, I wonder if noticing the General's skin color had anything to do with the unanimous vote of a caucus that looks very similar to General Burris. Reset the O'Connor/Bollinger Condoning of Racism Clock to zero.

The Lowering of Expectations Continues

Just two days after Sen. Barack Obama became President-elect Obama, I wrote a piece titled, The Lowering of Expectations Begins. In that piece I noted how the liberal extremists who control the media were whining that President-elect Obama was going to have to contend with some tough problems once he took office (though the current President is currently dealing with the same tough problems).

Earlier this week, President-elect Obama was, again, playing to the politics of fear while at the same time preparing the country for under-performance on his part. According to my "news"paper, "Obama told reporters that the deficit will probably hit $1 trillion this year and that 'potentially we've got trillion-dollar deficits for years to come, even with the economic recovery that we are working on.'"

No mention in the Boston Globe/Associate Press article if any of the reporters challenged the President-elect's pessimism. It appears they simply wrote what they were "told".

Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D, IL): My New Favorite Democrat

A few days ago I announced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D, IL) had replaced Sen. John F. (“If you are stupid, you join the US military”) Kerry as my favorite Democrat.

In no particular order, some of the reasons:

1. We now know that based on a U.S. Senate Democratic Caucus letter dated December 10, 2008 imploring Gov. Blagojevich (Democrat, IL) to not name a replacement Senator, that Senate Democrats now consider Sen. Joseph Lieberman (no longer “ID, CT” but now “D, CT”) a Democrat.

2. By Gov. Blagojevich (D, IL) announcing that he’s naming former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris to President-elect Obama’s vacant Senate seat, he’s exposed the liberal extremists who control the media as an entity that, despite the election of Sen. Obama as President, cannot stop noticing skin color. Try reading a news story or watching a news story that doesn’t make note that General Burris is black.

3. Gov. Blagojevich’s attorney is still hoping to introduce President-elect Obama’s “internal report” on the Obama Senate Seat Sale Scandal at the Governor’s impeachment hearings. That is so beautiful. Obama and his cheerleaders in the media would have you believe that Gov. Blagojevich should resign because of conversations he had with Obama’s people where Obama’s people did not do anything “inappropriate”. Are you kidding me? It does not get any better than this if you love politcal lies and political spin. I just hope someone with an honest journalism degree and a mild acquaintance with logic is on the case.

4. President-elect Obama (D, IL) thinks Gov. Blagojevich (D, IL) should resign because he had no “inappropriate” contact with the Obama “inner circle”. Oh, I just wrote that. Oh, well. It is so incredibly funny I needed to write it again.

5. “Will you be the most stupid White House Chief of Staff in history?” is now a plausible question for Rep. Rahm Emanuel given that Emanuel wasn’t “aware” that Gov. Blagojevich (D, IL) was capable of selling Obama’s senate seat.

6. Mr. Jesse Jackson, Jr., Candidate #5 in the Obama Senate Seat Sale Scandal, was President-elect Obama’s National Campaign Co-Chairman. Maybe someone with an honest journalism degree will not forget.

7. Ms. Valerie Jarrett, Candidate #1 in the Obama Senate Seat Sale Scandal, has been named as a counselor to President Obama. Maybe someone with an honest journalism degree will not forget.
