The Dr. William Bennett story will be kept alive by the pro-abortion liberal media for reasons no intelligent person will understand. HE'S PRO-LIFE! Pro-abortion Democrats and the liberal media are suggesting a pro-life Conservative is promoting abortion? Do these people stop and listen to themselves? HE'S PRO-LIFE. I have always thought the question to be asked was, what are the motives of those that support abortion? It is suggested that those that support raising the retirement age for Social Security are racists because African-Americans die younger than white Americans. Well, if more African-American women abort than white women, what can be suggested about those that support abortion? Hey, I'm just asking. Maybe a pro-abortionist can "comment" and explain it to us without us thinking they're racist. One more time for clarification, what would Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton say and do if conservative Republicans supported an activity that took the life of African-Americans at a greater rate than white Americans? One more time for emphasis, conservative Republicans want to stop an activity that takes the life of African-Americans at a greater rate than white Americans.

Can you believe the liberal media HAS NOT blamed President Bush for the California wildfires YET? And, how much longer until we read the "he took so long to visit the state he doesn't care" headline? Or, obviously, if he goes to California, it's "just a photo op".

How about the 22 empty suits and skirts that voted against Judge John G. Roberts for Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court? Of those that were in the Senate when Judge Ginsburg was nominated, I bet all voted for her. And just so we are clear about whom we speak, Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg had 57 law clerks in her employ prior to the Supreme Court, exactly zero were persons of color. The liberal media will give you a free pass to be a racist (Ginsburg, Ex-Klansman Sen. Byrd) as long as you are a Democrat. Intellectual dishonesty has no shame.

The next Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court will be the most qualified person for the job. He will also be Hispanic (Emilio Garza is my bet).

Columnist Thomas Oliphant recently heaped tons of criticism on President Bush for the Federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina. He then lavished praise on the United States Coast Guard. I emailed Mr. Oliphant to let him know that the Coast Guard is part of the Department of Homeland Security. In other words, the Coast Guard works directly for the President. He did not reply. Yes, I know, anyone can write my blog if the Boston Globe is your comic strip.

How unbelievable is this? Among friends just yesterday, I was laughing at the most ridiculous of all Democrats, Sen. John F. Kerry, the Great Equivocator, and the Boston Globe has a story on him in their September 20 issue.

Anyway, this is my letter in response to the article:

Editor,

Criticizing Sen. John F. Kerry is like shooting fish in a barrel.

For those that missed it, this is a verbatim quote from yesterday's Boston Globe, "Katrina is the background of a new picture we must paint of America. For five years our nation's leaders have painted a picture of America where ignoring the poor has no consequences; no nations are catching up to us; no pensions are destroyed. Every criticism is rendered unpatriotic . . . Well, Katrina did happen, and it washed away that coat of paint and revealed the true canvas of America with all its imperfections (In college speech, Kerry upbraids Bush administration, September 20, A9)." First, there is absolutely no way Mr. Peter Canellos, the Globe writer that authored the story, punctuated this quote properly. Nobody could! Second, Sen. Kerry must be brilliant because with my University of Notre Dame education I have absolutely no clue what he said. I must be dumm.

Next, it is extremely peculiar that on the day that North Korea pledged to abandon its nuclear weapons program, Sen. Kerry chose instead to (try and) use the Katrina disaster for political advantage (N. Korea treaty marks US shift, September 20, A1). Recall, during the 2004 Presidential debates, Sen. Kerry said that North Korea's nuclear weapons aspirations were the greatest threat to the national security of the the United States. The Bush Administration orchestrated progress on the greatest threat to U.S. national security and Sen. Kerry ignores it? Great leadership that!

Fish in a barrel. (End of letter)

Why do I have this graphic image of little kids building a sand-castle-wall at surfs edge during a still rising tide in hopes of beating back the tide?

First, I'm asking all that read this blog to go to your newspaper and see if you can find the name Karl Rove. Of course you can't because he has never been a story. While New Orleans was not suffering through the incompetence of its Governor and Mayor and while Supreme Court Chief Justice Rehnquist was alive, Rove was all the rage with the liberal media. Today, the liberal media has forgotten him (for good reason).

Second, I'm asking all that read this blog to go to your newspaper and see if you can find the name John G. Roberts. Of course you can't because the liberal media can only chew gum.

Third, I'm asking all that read this blog to go to your newspaper and see if you can find the name Cindy Sheehan. Of course you can't. See gum reference above.

Finally, I wrote the following letter to the Editor of the Boston Globe this morning:

Thank you to the Boston Globe for its excellent article listing the many errors made by Governor Kathleen Blanco, Mayor Ray Nagin and the New Orleans Police Department that contributed to the suffering of so many in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (Chronology of errors: how a disaster spread, September 11, A1).

For the hate-Bush crowd that did not read the article, the Boston Globe reported, that it was 12 hours after the National Hurricane Center in Florida called for a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans that "(Mayor) Nagin ordered the evacuation."

The Boston Globe further reports that the "police doubted the coming fury of Katrina", and that, according to Deputy Chief Steve Nicholas, "the 1,600 officer force of the New Orleans Police Department could handle Katrina just as it had dealt with countless other storms over the years."

Next, the Globe reports, that when Gov. Blanco finally got around to asking for help, she did not ask for "what the Gulf Coast would need most in the coming days: food, water, transportation to higher ground, and thousands of National Guard troops . . . instead she sought access to several federal assistance programs focusing almost solely on economic recovery . . . "

Lastly, Gov. Blanco did not make a formal request to Washington for the use of the New Mexico National Guard until, "New Orleans was almost completely under water." According to the timeline accompanying the article, this request was at least 24 hours after Katrina made landfall in Louisiana. Can you say, "sense of urgency", Governor?

Again, thank you the Boston Globe and its brave reporters that alerted us to the gross incompetence of Gov. Blanco, Mayor Nagin and, apparently, the entire leadership of the New Orleans Police Department. Without this reporting, I would have mistakenly (based on the rabid, hate-Bush, news stories) thought President Bush not only caused Katrina, but intentionally orchestrated the misery of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Random thoughts on Hurricane Katrina:

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

Can you imagine that if instead of a Coast Guard rescue helicopter flying 30 minutes to evacuate a New Orleans resident that didn't want to leave their home, the rescue helicopter more quickly found the resident that did want to leave the floodwaters?

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

How can it be that the liberal media found every single person that wanted to be saved and was not and the Coast Guard, the National Guard and the New Orleans Police Department kept finding residents that did not want to be saved?

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

How many people died in New Orleans because rescue helicopters and the Coast Guard wasted time trying to evacuate people that refused to be saved?

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

If President Bush positioned Federal troops in and around New Orleans prior to Katrina, solely to preserve the peace, would Rev. Jesse Jackson have called him a racist for suspecting the worst in the New Orleans residents?

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

By not prepositioning security forces prior to Katrina, will President Bush be revered for believing in the best of the New Orleans residents?

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

In the first 100 yard dash ever run, I would have cheered a 10 second performance.

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

Two hundred New Orleans city school buses and 300 New Orleans city transit buses were pictured drowned in flood water. (Let's assume only those that DID NOT want to be saved would have used these if the Mayor or Governor offered them.)

People (Bush-haters) believe what they want to believe.

Monday, September 05, 2005

I had a busy weekend; the President, apparently, caused Hurricane Katrina because he's a racist and Democrats don't know a KKK member when he literally guides their party.

I sent the following to the Boston Globe on September 3:

Editor,

People believe what they want to believe.

Those criticizing the massive, coordinated relief effort by the Federal government, the National Guard, many others, and now, the Boston Police Department (Boston to send 50 officers to aid police efforts in La., September 3, A9), for the victims of Hurricane Katrina would criticize the relief effort no matter how successful the effort is. Regarding the Boston Police Department, the Boston Globe reported that "officials have spent two days working out the logistical details of sending a police contingent." I wasn't sure if the mention of the "two days" was to be critical of how long it has taken the Boston Police Department to move 50 officers 2,000 miles or if it was intended to show how hard people trying to help were working. I believe it's the latter, but people will believe what they want.

It is outrageous that Mr. Oliver Thomas, president of the New Orleans city council, is allowed to cherry-pick factual instances of a less than perfect relief in order to criticize the President and then completely ignore the factual evidence that some New Orleans residents are looting and participating in wanton violence (National Guard troops pouring in with aid, September 3, A12; I didn't write this headline, the Boston Globe chose it; I assume it's accurate). "The violence is overexaggerated," he says. The Boston Globe reports, "The officers have been shot at every night . . . by criminals who entered the teeming convention center to rob, assault and rape the hurricane victims (Waiting for help, officers keep a lonely vigil, September 3, A15)." Am I to trust the Boston Globe reporting or Bush-critic, Mr. Thomas?

I'm not sure how to interpret the Boston Globe's reporting, "Several women said they were afraid for their lives, afraid of being raped," in light of Mr. Thomas's observation (For days, many felt forgotten and frightened, September 3, A15). Are these women's claims of being "forgotten" true according to Mr. Thomas because he can politicize the observation and tarnish President Bush but these same women's claims that they fear they will be raped are "overexaggerated"? Later in the last article cited, the Boston Globe reports that evacuees are claiming "armed thugs" are coming out at night "to terrorize them". Oh, really?

I was raised that if I saw hundreds and thousands of people trying to help me, I'd start by saying, "thank you." People criticizing somebody that is obviously trying to help tells me an awful lot about the critic. But, as we know, people believe what they want to believe; I am no different. On behalf of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, I want to say "thank you" to President Bush, FEMA, the National Guard, the Boston Police Department and everyone else that is trying to help.

I sent the following to the Ombudsman to the Boston Globe after he whined in an article that covering the hurricane was extremely difficult:

Mr. Chacon,

Today you wrote, "Planning news coverage of a disaster like a major hurricane is tricky . . . it is impossible to predict where a storm will ultimately hit or how hard its impact will be . . . there was no hint that this would be one of the greatest natural disasters in this Country's history . . . "
Thank God the Boston Globe is only responsible for getting us news coverage and not saving people in the ravaged area.

The things that the Boston Globe encountered were the same exact things, but with much more at stake, that the President, Mr. Chertoff, FEMA, the National Guard, the Coast Guard and the many, many others that are working so hard to provide relief had to encounter.

The September 3 edition of the Boston Globe was a disgrace. The over-presented criticism of those providing help was outrageous.

There will be time to ask thoughtful, intelligent questions about disaster relief and how it can be improved; last week was not the time to exploit the disaster for political gain. That the Boston Globe enabled such scoundrels is something the Globe should be ashamed of.

I sent this to Ms. Ellen Goodman on September 4 after she suggested Judge Roberts will only be derailed for a Supreme Court position if he's caught pictured wearing a hood:

Ms. Goodman,

Sen. Robert C. Byrd will be pictured in a KKK robe, not Judge John G. Roberts.

Recall, Democrats refer to the former Klan member as the "Conscience of the Senate". (End of letter.)

The Goodman email was particulary fun for me because on September 3, I sent the following to the Boston Globe:

Editor,

Understandably missing from the Boston Globe article reporting that Sen. Robert Byrd (D, West Virginia) is set to announce that he is running for an unprecedented ninth term in the United States Senate and that contained effusive praise from Mr. Ned Rose, chairman of the organization Friends of Robert C. Byrd, were the facts that Sen. Byrd is the only ex-Ku Klux Klan member in the Senate and Sen. Byrd is the only U.S. Senator to vote against liberal, African-American, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and conservative, African-American, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (Sen. Byrd expected to announce run for 9th term, September 3, A2). Democrats must be so proud of the man they call the "Conscience of the Senate". (End of letter.)

Stay tuned; I can only imagine how apoplectic the Left is going to get with the passing of Chief Justice Rehnquist; the outrageousness is only just beginning.
