What Were They Thinking?

The left-lane exit on the highway?

Drivers exiting the highway, thus going reeaallyy slowly, should never be invited into the passing lane, ever.

Megalomaniac?

“Don’t do it for me - do it for the American people, they’re the ones looking for action right now.” - President Barack Obama rallying Democratic Representatives to vote for nationalization of medicine.

Pause for just a moment and digest the insinuation.

Sure, President Obama is a megalomaniac, this is an easy diagnosis from his absurd comment.

But even more, he's and idiot. A certifiable idiot.

For, he is completely clueless to his audience. He actually thought for a measure of time longer than a nanosecond that many, if not all, Democratic Representatives would EVER put ANYTHING or ANYBODY above their own self-interest.

Pause for a moment and digest my suggestion.

Yeah, that's why they call me ZACKlyRight.

The "Many More" Must Be Too Steamed to Move

Here's the Associated Press' dispatch that was picked up by my (news)paper reporting on the sincerity and conviction of the anti-war protesters; again, I'm not kidding:

Rally marks Iraq invasion
Antiwar protesters seek troops’ return
By Associated Press
March 21, 2010

WASHINGTON — Thousands of protesters carried signs that read “Indict Bush Now’’ and flag-draped cardboard coffins yesterday urging the immediate withdrawal of all troops sent into combat overseas.

Protesters rallied at Lafayette Park across from the White House and then began marching through downtown seven years after the US-led invasion of Iraq. Seven protesters, including activist Cindy Sheehan, were arrested after the rally.

Stops on the route include military contractor Halliburton, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and The Washington Post offices.

The protest — which called for the immediate withdrawal of troops sent to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan — drew a smaller crowd than the tens of thousands of people who marched in 2006 and 2007.

But organizers said many more people have become disenchanted with President Obama, who has pledged to withdraw troops from Iraq, because he ordered more troops into Afghanistan. (End of Associated Press dispatch exposing those who just couldn't find the time this year to protest the "illegal war" and the cost in "blood and treasure" as the hypocrites they are.)

It Boggles the Mind

The Associated Press piece that ran in my (news)paper, the Boston Globe, today:

Holder, GOP at odds over trials
Devlin Barrett, Associated Press
March 17, 2010

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress yesterday that Osama bin Laden will never face trial in the United States because he will not be captured alive.

In testy exchanges with House Republicans, Holder compared terrorists to mass murderer Charles Manson and predicted that events would ensure “we will be reading Miranda rights to the corpse of Osama bin Laden’’ not to the Al Qaeda leader as a captive.

Holder sternly rejected criticism from GOP members of a House Appropriations subcommittee who contend it is too dangerous to put terror suspects on trial in federal civilian courts as Holder has proposed.

Holder said it infuriates him to hear conservative critics contend that terrorists would get too many rights in the court system.

Terrorists in court “have the same rights that Charles Manson would have, any other kind of mass murderer,’’ Holder said.

“It doesn’t mean that they’re going to be coddled. It doesn’t mean that they’re going to be treated with kid gloves.’’

The comparison to convicted killer Manson angered Representative John Culberson, a Republican of Texas, who said it showed the Obama administration does not understand the American public’s desire to treat terrorists as wartime enemies, not criminal defendants.

“My constituents and I just have a deep-seated and profound philosophical difference with the Obama administration,’’ Culberson said.

Holder, his voice rising, contended that Culberson’s arguments ignored basic facts about the law and the fight against terrorists.

“Let’s deal with reality,’’ Holder said. “The reality is that we will be reading Miranda rights to the corpse of Osama bin Laden. He will never appear in an American courtroom.’’ (End of Associated Press piece.)

The letter:

Editor,

The non-Geneva-Conventions-compliant battlefield execution is certainly one way for the Obama Administration to avoid the messy application of the 'rule of law' at trial (Holder, GOP at odds over trials; March17). (End of letter.)

But What’s My Point II?

For those who were wondering what my point was in my previous post, it was that the liberally-extreme Associated Press and the liberally-extreme Boston Globe had no interest in letting their readers know that Rep. Massa is a Democrat.

Another funny thing about the Massa story is the hypocrisy of House Democrats. Recall their uproar over Rep. Foley texting inappropriate messages? Recall their unhinged behavior in wanting to know when Republican House leadership first learned of Rep. Foley’s texting and what that leadership did with the knowledge. Well, now, we have a Representative who physically violated people and we think Democratic House leadership may have learned of Massa’s conduct some time ago and chose to do nothing about it. We really don’t know much about what Democratic House leadership knew and what they did to protect potential victims because House Democrats are currently blocking an investigation into their possible aiding and abetting.

To the point of today’s post; this is one of the editorials the Boston Globe chose to run today; again, I’m not kidding:

Glenn Beck: Foolishness on faith
March 13, 2010

Fox News performer Glenn Beck set some kind of record for combining ignorance and chutzpah when he told viewers to run away from any church where the terms “social justice’’ or “economic justice’’ are spoken. These are “code words,’’ Beck warned. He then held up a Nazi swastika and the Communist hammer and sickle, saying both represent the banner of social justice.

Christian clerics, both conservative and liberal, were commendably quick to remind Beck of the Sermon on the Mount. Members of Beck’s own Mormon faith objected that he was scorning their belief that care for the poor is a divine commandment. Indeed, an injunction to seek social justice is common to nearly all sects. And Beck was no less confused about the Nazis’ disdain for social justice and Bolshevik cynicism about the same. Beck’s fatwa on the politics of faith makes it plain he is someone who literally does not know what he is talking about. (End of editorial by the Boston Globe.)

But What's My Point?

This was the Associated Press article that my (news)paper published today:

Former congressman admits to groping staffer
WASHINGTON - Former US representative Eric Massa of New York, who resigned from Congress amid sexual harassment allegations, acknowledged yesterday groping a staff member but denied it was sexual.

“It doesn’t make any difference what my intentions were; it’s how it’s perceived by the individual who receives that action,’’ Massa said on conservative commentator Glenn Beck’s Fox News Channel show. “I’m telling you I was wrong. I was wrong. My behavior was wrong. I should have never allowed myself to be as familiar with my staff as I was.’’

The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, reported yesterday that the House ethics panel is investigating allegations Massa groped multiple male staff members in his office. Massa has previously claimed his misconduct was limited to using inappropriate language with staffers.

Asked directly on Beck’s program whether he sexually groped anyone, Massa replied: “No, no, no.’’

Massa, however, recalled tickling a staff member at a birthday party.

“Now they’re saying I groped a male staffer,’’ Massa said. “Yeah, I did. Not only did I grope him, I tickled him until he couldn’t breathe, and four guys jumped on top of me. It was my 50th birthday and it was kill the old guy.’’

Massa said his actions may have been misinterpreted.

“If somebody on my staff was offended, uncomfortable, thought I was inappropriate, I own that,’’ Massa said. “It’s why I resigned.’’ (End of AP article.)

I'm not kidding.

But They're Not Dead . . . Yet

I reproduce my (news)paper's lead editorial from March 4, 2010 in its entirety so you can fully appreciate the idiocy.

Brown’s committee posts tilt too far toward defense
March 4, 2010

Senator Scott Brown received his committee assignments from the Republican leadership on Tuesday, and it’s mixed news at best for Massachusetts. Brown is joining the Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs committees - a lineup that General Patton might appreciate but one that doesn’t touch on many of the most vital domestic issues facing the country.

This is good news, of course, for the state’s many defense contractors, and there’s no questioning the importance of these assignments. Brown, a former army JAG lawyer, will have a chance to build on his knowledge of defense-related issues and, over time, play a substantial role in foreign policy.

The problem is that his fellow Massachusetts senator, John Kerry, is already exerting maximum clout on foreign policy as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, meaning that the state’s Senate delegation is tilting too far overseas. Kerry’s specialty in foreign policy worked well when he was partnered with Edward Kennedy, who was the leading domestic-policy legislator of his time. From his perch on what is now called the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Kennedy influenced much of social policy for the last half-century. He also tended assiduously to Massachusetts’ giant health-care industry, directing billions of federal dollars a year to local hospitals and laboratories.

Kerry has a seat on the Senate Finance Committee, giving him some sway over health-insurance reform, and is also a member of the Senate’s small-business committee. But the lack of a Massachusetts senator on the HELP Committee will certainly be felt on Longwood Avenue.

Seats on committees are handed out by party leaders, and Brown, as the least-senior senator, has relatively little influence over the process. Kerry, one of the most senior Democrats, has more leverage within his party. Over time, both senators have to work together to make sure that all of Massachusetts’ interests are protected.

Committee assignments matter. For much of American history, Massachusetts’ senators have played significant roles in the most vital issues of their times, emblemized by Kennedy’s crusade for health reform and his decisive role in judicial-confirmation battles on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now, Massachusetts’ power is directed at defense and foreign policy - an important contribution, but a much-reduced portion of the Senate landscape (End of asinine editorial).

I think the "good news" is that someone from Massachusetts will finally be looking out for our troops - the idiots who comprise the editorial board could not find even one sentence in this editorial to contemplate Sen. Brown's impact in that regard.

Readers would also appreciate knowing that two weeks ago, the idiots who comprise the editorial board of the Boston Globe typed an editorial that called on Sen. Brown to be the catalyst to break the gridlock in Washington, that he usher in a spirit of bipartisanship (the job too big for President Obama, apparently). Yet, here, the idiots suddenly realize (because today's purpose is to smear Sen. Brown) that, "Seats on committees are handed out by party leaders, and Brown, as the least-senior senator, has relatively little influence over the process."

ZACKlyRight Again!

As I wrote on May 7, 2009 (click here for the link http://zacklyright.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
or use the index to the right and click on May 2009) that President Obama would not, President Obama did not wave the American Flag at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Games just recently concluded in Vancouver, Canada.

First, I realize this was no great prediction. The exclamation point in the title is for fun.

Second, isn't anyone, anyone at all, interested to know why the President of the United States showed no interest in supporting the athletes of his Country? Apparently no one in the liberal media curious.

As easy to call his shunning of the athletes at the Games is the call that President Obama will take full advantage of hosting the US Team at the White House in the near future. No doubt the President's cheerleaders in the liberal media will go out of their way (they will have to!) to make Obama appear proud of the Team.

According to Rasmussen, Obama's approval rating is at 47% (I had to go back to October 6, 2009 to find the last time it was more than 50%) and just under 150% more respondents "Strongly Disapprove" of the President's performance as those who "Strongly Approve".
