well played. Will BHO resign in disgrace or ride it through the pier like LBJ?

Hardball,

Obama will lose a primary battle to Clinton.

Currently, the Clintons are working the timeline backwards. By when do we need to be officially declared? So, when can we start making back-channel contacts with potential supporters? How much time away from the failing Obama-Biden Administration should exist before we make these contacts such that it doesn't look like we're going right from the State Department to campaign mode?

Look for Clinton to soon leave the failing Obama-Biden Administration. Look for her to simply enjoy "private life" for a respectable period of time. She will allow herself "to be drafted" by a Party that needs to be saved. She will graciously save the Party.

The guilty white liberals who checked the "I voted for a black man so I'm not a racist" box will flock to Clinton. Liberal females will rejoice.

Expanding a bit further, aside from Sen. Webb's snotty reply to President Bush when President Bush asked the Senator about his deployed son, I have no concerns with the qualifications of Sen. Webb. Plus, he comes from a key Electoral College state.

Gov. Romney apparently has spent the last year or so doing all kinds of politcal favors for Republican power brokers from coast-to-coast. Some overt; some covert. He's collecting a ton of chits. Not seeing anyone at this point with the heft to challenge (and with the economy looking like it will be a huge campaign issue in 2011 and 2012, Romeny's strongest suit), Romney looks like he could have this thing wrapped up in February 2012.

If anyone has any concerns about Romney's national security bona fides, they are completely and totally resolved with Petraeus on the ticket.

But, it is only January 2010 so a lot can happen in the next 2.5 years.
